With an album cover that seems like an extract scene from the film “The Truman Show”, I think that RAYE’s second album is the biggest hope in the whole music industry at the moment. And she’s independent, there’s no huge record company investing millions on this one!

I remember first listening to Raye, on Jax Jones’ hit “You Don’t Know Me” and I really liked her style. Since then she’s evolved to a super diva and with the release of her second solo album, we can confirm that! With the first single “Where Is My Husband” (No.1 in UK) which she performed with her big band almost in every great live show on TV, the feeling she gave to the audience was simply Hope for the whole music industry. Taking it back to the days where singers were singers and bands delivered the music, in this AI era that we’re now living in, that scenery feels that there is still great music released, people can still have feelings. And while writing about feelings let me tell you this:

Raye in her new album “This Music May Contain Hope” takes all the feelings in you, smashes them into your face, you can feel the music and the lyrics and the performance in your gut, and by the end of the album you’re left with your mouth wide open wondering “what the fuck did I just listen to?”.

The album is written and co-produced by herself and she worked with various collaborators, including Chris Hill, Mike Sabath, Tom Richards, Al Green and Hans Zimmer. We can also listen to Raye’s sisters, Amma and Absolutely, who appear as featured artists. There are 17 tracks and I don’t wanna stand to say which is my favorite as they all seem to be just perfect. Of course i liked the funk on some, of course I enjoyed the cinematography on others, or the soul that hits you in your soul. Her voice hits you in every note!

The whole album seems like it’s a novel, with great poems, with an orchestra playing live the whole time as RAYE performs. Fun fact is that in the end at “Fin” she shouts out everyone involved on this one, something I truly never heard before (and believe me I have listened to thousands of albums in my life!)

No more words. Play “This Music May Contain Hope” and give yourself the time to feel every single note out of it.
