Looking for the perfect beat was a line that Africa Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force made famous and since then we just do! Every time of year listening to the new releases, but most importantly when summer arrives we want to listen to the new wordwide hype.
So here it is! While many DJs are just looping the same afrobeat rhythm for their releases or sample old dancefloor bangers, there are some serious producers that level up the music industry. In my opinion those afrobeat remixes that everyone plays on their sets are just tunes with no essence (only a few stand out), they sound too boring, don’t make you dance and it’s about time to bring some old school back on the dancefloor.
Kaytranada just released his new single with Channel Tres on vocals and the low-key legend, as Rolling Stone magazine writes on the digital cover, is back with the “Drip Sweat” banger bringing those old-school beats back on the dancefloor. With 2 great albums, some EPs and a dozen of great remixes + bootlegs he’s got the real sound and this time around he’s definitely huge with this comeback. His new album “Timeless” drops tomorrow June 7th, and he’s got with him some big collaborations with Anderson.Paak, Thundercat, Childish Gambino, Tinashe plus more. Check out his first single with the awesome deep vocals of Channel Tres.
Jamie XX is unique. His sound, omg! It’s more UK, more electronic, more spiritual with those releases of his. At last after many remixes and his awesome album “In Colour” , he releases “In Waves” on September 20th. His collaborations include Robyn, The Avalanches, Panda Bear, Romy, Honey Dijon plus many more. His new single “Treat Each Other Right” has a great video full of vibe and it’s got a Bicep-feeling in it, a bit techno, a bit drum’n’bass, a bit soulful, it’s everything all-in-one banger. Ready for this comeback? Have a listen.
Mariah Carey needs no introduction at all. She is THE VOICE of many generations and a true pioneer when it comes to remixes. While in the 90s i was playing all her hits on the radio, her 12″ singles contained remixes from C&C Music Factory, David Morales, Junior Vasquez, Def Club and many more that defined the whole era of club culture. Mariah used to go to the studio and deliver a whole new vocal arrangement for her remixes that extended to 10′ or 11′ minutes of pure bliss. She’s the one, she kept giving and giving. From gospel, to soulful, to the real house garage tracks of the era. We were there, we were all dancing to those unbelievable classic remixes of hers. And… in 2024 she decides to do it again. With “Portrait“. Here comes the Hopeful Child Remix that extends to 16 minutes of pure house music, pure vocals, back vocals, it speaks to your soul, it makes you wanna scream on the dancefloor, it just keeps giving and giving more. You won’t get it if you don’t listen to the whole 16 minutes session of “Portrait”. This is history in the making, again and again and definitely one of my favorites for this summer season (made me listen again to her whole catalogue of remixes from the 90s). Check it out!
