Have you ever found yourself dancing in a club or a festival with your eyes closed, let the rhythm, the bass, the music flow into your veins and allow your body to follow the music, feeling (for some minutes) that you are out of this world? That you are trancended in another space and time?
Jamie XX released the video for “Falling Together” , which on the first listen of “In Waves” I personally considered it to be one of my favourites of this album. Oona Doherty whose lyrics are guiding you through this tune, is an Irish Choreographer based in Belfast and studied at London School Of Contemporary Dance. Oona’s work has been recently performed at festivals around Europe and has been teaching dance theatre workshops in Europe since 2012. She is an ISSAC Associate Artist.
In her own words: ”My work attempts to play with the barrier between the flesh and the soul, the audience and the stage; to share a kinetic experience. I’m motivated to explore states of pure metaphysical honesty. To bring the sex, the punk, the romance and the chi back into the body, the black box, the white cube, and Ireland.’’
Listen to “Falling Together” below and I’m sure that if you’ve ever been to a dance club, you’ll get that feeling straight away. Just let it flow.
