I’ve been checking lately the best youtube videos and the newest uploaded, finding myself watching some new releases from collaborations of latin artists like Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin etc. It’s like i’m living in 1999 when all those superstars poped out in the starsystem with many latin-english language-dance hits. But back then, it was cool, it was something new and well, it didn’t sound all the same. Nowadays it seems like we have one formula taken out of the studio, we put some vocals in it, make a fancy video, releasing it and let the world dance to this cheap music-lyrics that we give them too. I don’t see anything bad in latin music, but i thought it was something more original, with nice beats, instruments, trumpets, saxophones, guitars playing and lots of passion.

After the huge success of “Bailando” and some JLO collaborations, it seems that the latin world wants to grab some more money international and release a bunch of hits , that are not even hits. They ‘re just the same beat, with some dancing videos, putting too much colour in it (to attract the ‘eye’ in the video) but still remain and show cheap. If this is the world of music right now, i’d better dig in my record collection from the past and listen to the B-Sides. I’m sure it sounds more interesting.
