It seems that this week has releases from the Backstreet Boys, Christina Aguilera…. so i think this must be the 00s, right? Makes me laugh a bit, but those artists have new hits for summer 2018. And it’s good pop. We also have Justice, Jungle, Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure, John Mayer, Leon Bridges for New Music Friday. Moreover the collaboration of Pharrell Williams and Camila Cabello that’s of reggae/dub feel might be a serious summer No.1 for mainstream radio stations. Check all the future hits below.
Pharrell & Camila – Sangria Wine
Never expected this vibe to come out of Pharrell, it seems like Diplo is producing this single, that puts serious nomination for this year’s mainstream No.1 tune. Check it!
John Mayer – New Light
What a beautiful tune is this? Listening to the return of John Mayer with “New Light”, i know there’s definitely a future pop classic here. It’s so sweet , so summer, so groovy!
Justice – Stop
The French sensation duo of Justice have this great banger for their comeback. What a great way to enter Summer 2018. Can’t wait for the remixes.
Jungle – Happy Man
Since ‘Busy Earning’ they are on top of the list. I don’t need to write many words for the Jungle comeback. Listen to this great tune with those lyrics on chorus:
“Buy yourself a dream, how’s it looking?
Buy yourself a car and a house to live in
Get yourself a girl, someone different
Buy yourself a dream and it won’t mean nothing”
Arctic Monkeys – Four Out Of Five
I’ve already listened twice the new Arctic album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’. Don’t understand what the fuss is about. Many describe their new music to David Bowie, but in 2018 if David Bowie was alive, he would probably release something too different than this. It’s got a 70s sound in it, but i really don’t know yet. This is the first single that came out on video (though everybody was saying there won’t be a single). I don’t know yet, the verdict on Arctic’s new release is not that easy.
Leon Bridges – Beyond
His album “Good Thing” is one of the best i listened to this season. Pure soul, romantic with a great production and lyrics and yes, Leon Bridges sounds awesome.
Disclosure – Ultimatum
Boys are back in town (and our playlists). Disclosure have this deep dance sound we love listening to and now they use sample of Fatoumata Diawara’s voice. This really feels like summertime dancing (somewhere by the beach, hitting your feet on the sand, sweating and never minding what tomorrow brings). Check it!
Backstreet Boys – Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Backstreet’s Back… Alright!!! Some weeks ago *NSync had their own star at Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Is this the era for the boy bands make a comeback? I mean, we have so many artists releasing pop music today (many are crappy), so why not go back to the original pop bands that sold millions, really know how this works and already have a huge fanbase? What a great way to introduce those artists to new kids.
Christina Aguilera & Demi Lovato – Fall In Line
On June, Christina releases her new album and this collaboration with Demi Lovato that’s at her best year ever, brings a feminist tune. A girlie song that might find many related in the lyrics. Well, Christina brings out her old self here (not exactly what ‘Accelerate’ was!)
