Hello darkness my old friend… This is the lyric that keeps repeating on the new Eminem tune “Darkness”, based on the sample of ‘The Sound Of Silence’ from Simon & Garfunkel.
Eminem dropped his 11th studio album on Friday morning, called Music to Be Murdered By (inspired on the artwork from Alfred Hitchock as he stated in a tweet: “inspired by the master, Uncle Alfred!”). He signs as Slim Shady, not as Eminem, on the cover. The world went crazy from this huge surprise! It’s already No.1 in several countries as everyone played the album to listen to new Eminem’s sound. In the album there are many featured artists: Black Thought, Q-Tip, Juice Wrld, Ed Sheeran, Young M.A, Skylar Grey, Don Toliver, Anderson .Paak and Royce da 5’9″, among others. Produced of course by Eminem and the master Dr.Dre.
It’s already a classic Eminem album. Heavy beats, great samples as always and some really heavy rhymes from Em. Seems like the world needed a rap album like that , at this moment. The first single ‘Darkness’ states a huge worldwide problem , on a ‘Stan’-made tune, that has to do with gun possession and the use of it. It’s not only in US that people are out of limits, it happens almost everywhere on the western civilization and there are many artists that release music to address the huge problem of the last decades. Nobody seems to care… they just sell more guns, no laws are made, only new guns are made (and sold). I’m not gonna go into the Ariana Grande shooter comparison, it won’t make a difference, each artist has his own way telling some serious stuff, and Eminem really tells some really good stories on his album.
There are many favorite moments on ‘Music To Be Murdered By’… but I choose as the Tune Of The Week the 1st single that got released from the album: “Darkness“. Enjoy it loud! And put yourself in a place to think!
