Yeah i know!!! It’s been a long time since my last tune of the week! Been busy lately, but i can’t help but listening to new music all the time and i really should have written about lots of releases in 2018. My apologies, i’m trying my best here and if you wanna catch up with more new tunes you can listen to Abbey Road Radio , where i keep new music updated alongside many other great tunes.

So…

My Dear Melancholy, is the first EP from Grammy-award winner The Weeknd. It features 6 songs and some call it a mini album. All songs are about the break-ups he had with previous relationships and it’s as dark as it gets. When it first came out, i gave it a listen once. And twice… and then “Call Out My Name” got stuck in mind. I listened to it about 5 times in a row (the first time). My thinking is that this could be a single taken from previous albums but it’s a perfect comeback for The Weeknd, who also gave a memorable performance at Coachella (thank God for youtube that had it on live stream!)

“Call Out My Name” is co-written by Frank Dukes and Nicolas Jaar. Read below what some magazines wrote about it.

The grainy, trippy video includes footage of the R&B hitmaker recording vocals and listening back to tracks in the studio.” -Billboard

… gives an intimate perspective on the vocalist’s creative process, still maintaining the same dark, mysterious and alluring aura that’s so quintessentially The Weeknd.” -Billboard

The video “He Was Never There,” just dropped and it’s fantastic.” -Complex

In true Weeknd fashion, it’s a moody and hazed-out compilation of VHS-style footage that complements the EP’s grunginess.” -MTV News

“The video has a grainy quality to it, as though it was filmed through a camera from the 80’s, lending the video to a grungy aesthetic that compliments the mood of the music being produced.” -HNHH
