When i was writing about Jack Savoretti back in 2017 (read here) everybody was telling me that nobody’s gonna play his music etc. We were heading in another era in music. Well… thank you time! After almost two years, the tune of the week is his latest single containing all the Spring vibes you want, in one tune. Mellow, musical, lyrical, sung with passion.
Against all the trends of mumble rap, latin, reggaeton, and other genres on the charts with no emotions and passion at all in their music (most of them seem to be ‘bedroom studio’ produced) the sixth studio album by English singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti, released on 15 March 2019, “Singing To Strangers”, went straight to No.1 in UK albums chart.
“What more can i do?” is a love ballad. It really got me! (As Lewis Capaldi did with his no.1 hit “Someone you loved”. I don’t know if you noticed, but there’s some serious pop music released this year)
(from wikipedia) Savoretti named the album “Singing to Strangers” because, he said, “That’s my job: I sing to strangers. That’s what I’ve spent most of my life doing. Singing to friends and family and fans; they’re already onside, so you can, to some extent sing anything. Strangers need convincing, touching, connection.”
Turn the volume up and enjoy my tune of the week.
