20 artists for 2020
Music scence is completely unstoppable! Too many releases, but… not too many hits. Too many voices, not too many people that are authentic to their sound. 2019 was the year that pop music ruled the charts. Also it was a year that hip-hop culture got completely ruined. Dance music? Well… edm is completely over but i’m happy that a nu disco sound is up and running the last years (especially on remixes) and maybe on 2020 we’ll see that sound conquer the club stages again and maybe it will hit the radio airwaves accross the globe. Rock? What does rock music stand for in 2020? Probably nothing, it depends only on icons and oldies, that are touring the world reminiscing what was back then.
I got 20 names… that released really good material in 2019, some hit the top of the charts, some didn’t go to no.1, some are too pop… but all of them come with a force to conquer 2020. So here they are, listen to them through some of their biggest hits:
POST MALONE
Yeap. He is the No.1 artist of his generation. Still at No.1. With a great album.
FONTAINES D.C.
This is the band i watch out for 2020. They are future rock. They may save the scene.
MAROON 5
Nothing can stop Maroon 5. Each year (the last 16) they got some really BIG hits!
THE WEEKND
When Abel dropped this tune… it went straight to No.1. ‘Blinding Lights’ was also so ’80s!!!
LIZZO
She’s been trying to get on top for about 5 years. And yes… she made it! And TIME magazine called her ‘Entertainer of the year’.
BILLIE EILISH
I don’t know if she can handle all the publicity around her. Hope she will. Everybody was talking of Eilish in 2019. What about 2020?
DUA LIPA
Dua returned with a pop-disco tune that gets stuck in your head. Now , we’re waiting for the album to drop.
ROSALIA
No words for Rosalia. She’s got it all! Give her a no.1 in 2020.
HARRY STYLES
Harry Styles has found his style. Creating ‘Fine Line’ shows that he has definitely left behind his One Direction roots, for good. Hope it’s not only marketing…
TONES & I
This is the No.1 tune of 2019. And we’ll probably will be listening more from Toni Watson this year. Australia ruled the charts again!
LEWIS CAPALDI
When i first listened to the way he sings, i almost cried (lies, i did cry!) On his social media he is bit of a twat, but who cares? Maybe the best of 2019 from UK.
NIALL HORAN
Niall seemed different, from other One Direction members. He likes Pop. We like Pop too. He delivers it with excellence. He’ll be here for 2020.
JACK SAVORETTI
And out of the blue, Jack delivers some sentimental pop tunes that you can’t avoid listening to, on repeat.
YEBBA
Abbey Smith isn’t exactly new to the game. She’s collaborated with Ed Sheeran, Mark Ronson, Robert Glasper. What … A … Voice!!! I think that she’s preparing a hot first solo album this year.
PURPLE DISCO MACHINE
Tito Piontek has his own unique way in creating some of the biggest nu disco remixes the last decade. Can’t wait to see him top the charts in 2020 with his groovy uplifting rhythm.
ROBERT SURACE
This is a club anthem like no other. Seems like Roberto Surace brings back a true disco-club sound using sample from S.O.S Band ‘The Finest’.
MICHAEL KIWANUKA
Is Kiwanuka the greatest of his generation? Such a talented artist, with his 3rd album being one of the greatest of 2019.
GANG STARR
The pioneers are back! DJ Premier uses Guru’s vocals and creates an album that is a real diamond for hip-hop culture. ‘Cause this is the real hip-hop culture. You cannot change or unsee it! Guru sounds like he’s still alive.
ARIZONA ZERVAS
AZ is of Greek origin. Writing his own material since 2016. Now he’s going for the top! Congrats!
STORMZY
His sound! His music! Unique! Always on No.1 spot.
